Marathons and Events

With so many Marathons and Events going on in the local area and so many worthwhile charities to support, Imagine really appreciate you representing the charity and like nothing better than seeing the Imagine logo on our television screens. With Imagine missing out on some of the allocated spaces in some of the bigger events to the National Charities, we rely on people choosing us when applying for the 'ballot places'. Some of the many events you can take part in are listed below.

Early Bird Great North Run Registration

The Daily Mirror today offered 3,000 places in this year's BUPA Great North Run, the world's biggest half marathon.

These places can prove very valuable to charities in terms of the sponsorship that runners can raise for them. This year's event is expected to generate £12 million for charities.

The 30th Bupa Great North Run will take place in Newcastle on Sunday 19 September 2010, where a field of 54,000 runners will take part.

The deadline for entries is midnight on 8 January 2010. Successful applicants will be required to pay the £44 entry fee (£70 for overseas entrants). Unsuccessful entrants will be entered into the general ballot.

Entrants must be 17 years or older.

Successful entrants will be notified on or before 15 January 2010.

Worthwhile Walks

Wirral Coastal Walk Sunday 23rd May 2010

Walk for the Alder Hey Imagine Appeal!

Walk 5, 10, 13 or the full 15 miles!

The Rotary Club of North Wirral organised the first Wirral Coastal Walk in 1987. From the humble beginnings of a few hundred walkers, it has grown to become a well-known annual event in the Wirral calendar and probably the biggest of its kind in the North West. In 2005 over 5,000 walkers participated and raised an estimated £300,000.00 for local, national and international charities.

It is a fun event for walkers of all ages and abilities. Its main attraction, apart from the exercise and the opportunity to view the beautiful Wirral coastline, is that walkers can raise money through sponsorship for the Alder Hey Imagine Appeal.

Every aspect of the event is organised and controlled by the Rotary Club. All a walker needs to do is pick up a sponsorship form from the Imagine Appeal department or Download to obtain some sponsorship, turn up on the day, pay the registration fee of £3 per adult and £1 per child aged 10 and underand participate.

There are bands at the start and finish of the Walk. Free orange juice is available at three Control Points on the route and at the finish, where other food and drink will be on sale. St John Ambulance will be on hand along the way just in case there is a need for first aid and RAYNET will provide a radio communication network to meet any emergency needs. At the finish buses will be available which, for a small charge, will transport you back to Seacombe Ferry or to West Kirby railway station.

So dust off those walking shoes and invite, enrol, persuade, cajole, encourage your family and friends into joining you for a great day out whilst raising money for the
